According to a survey by consultancy firm PwC, 60% of companies are not ready for the GDPR privacy deadline. On Friday 25 May 2018 all companies and organizations must comply with the new European privacy law GDPR. Even less than 20% of the companies have set up a processing index.
GDPR privacy deadline
In 2015 it was agreed that the new European privacy law would take effect from May 2016, and would be enforced 2 years later, on May 25, 2018.
One of the issues many companies struggle with is a so-called processing index. Companies must record which data they process; required under the new privacy law, but less than one in five companies has arranged this. In barely a quarter of the companies, no one is involved in privacy policy.
